the-lifestyle-edit-veronika-heilbrunner-1I have a confession to make. Rather than duly catching up on the shows in Paris over the week as I should have, I spent the best part of last weekend indulging in what has long become a favourite pastime of mine: a good ol’ session of digital procrastination of the street style variety. You know the types of afternoons I’m talking about – the ones where, in reality, you have lots of serious things to be getting on with but instead, you find yourself clicking through street style slideshow after street style slideshow or endlessly scrolling through Pinterest or Tumblr to see what everyone was wearing at the shows.

Each season I’m infatuated by someone different. In years past it was the Francophilies, so the Carine Roitfeld, Emmanuelle Alt and Geraldine Saglio’s of the world followed of course by the Scandi’s like Elin Kling, Pernille Teisbaek and Hedvig Opshaug. Right now, though, no quite inspires that sense of sartorial existentialism in me quite like Veronika Heilbrunner.

While the name might not ring a bell, you’ll definitely recognise her face and just to give you a bit of background, she was formerly the style editor at Harper’s Bazaar Germany before recently joining online luxury fashion destination, My-Theresa.com as its fashion editor. She also just happens to be one-half of the best-dressed couple in street style, alongside her other half Justin O’Shea but that’s beside the point.

What makes Veronika’s style so special is that with everything you wears you get the distinct impression that she dresses entirely for herself. It’s clearly not about making a statement for the sake of and she’s one of the few people you see at the shows who, while looking incredible in everything she wears, also just oozes this effortless insouciance and a natural, inner self-confidence. The fact that she’s the first to mix and feminine Acne dress with a pair of Nike high-tops makes us love her even more.
