Why you need to acquaint yourself with the Rosewood London Sunday Slow Food Market

If you’re young, hip, healthy and seriously into food, you’re probably heading to the Rosewood London Sunday Slow Food Market this weekend. You’re not alone either – we’ll be there too, making our way through all the locally harvested fruit and veg, organically raised meats, not to mention the freshly plucked flowers and farmstead cheeses.

Regular readers of The Lifestyle Edit will know that, despite our penchant for a glass (read: bottle) of wine and anything smothered in cheese, healthy eating (and living, obviously) is our MO. It’s why we’ve teamed up with Get The Glow nutritionist, Madeleine Shaw and our friends at The Detox Kitchen to bring you a whole host of nutritionally rich dishes that actually taste good.

We’re the first to admit that our diets aren’t particularly at their best during the winter when everything has all but frozen over but it’s summer now and all of our favourite healthy go-tos are in season so there really are no excuses.

By now, it’s no secret now that organic, pesticide free locally grown food has health benefits and since we already have great recipes to hand, it was pretty much a given that we’d be on the hunt for a place to find the freshest, healthiest ingredients around. We mean, that’s the whole point, right?

Why you need to acquaint yourself with the Rosewood London Sunday Slow Food Market

If you’ve paid a trip to the restaurant at the Rosewood London, you’ll know that the much-loved dining spot has a great selection of healthy food options that go beyond the hum drum dishes we’ve all come to expect so it’s no surprise that farmers have descended on its impressive Edwardian courtyard with a smorgasbord of homegrown seasonal goods in tow.

It’s the perfect spot to visit if you feel the likes of Borough Market have become a bit too touristy. Unlike those big markets, here you will find a tight knit collection of 30 handpicked vendors, offering everything from the best smoked salmon in London courtesy of Norwegian outfit Hansen & Lydersen, to Kentish fruit and organic apple juice from Chegsworth Valley, Hampshire-roasted coffee from Moonroast and a great sourdough loaf from Nyborg’s Kitchen. You can even find Jack O’Shea, who used to run the meat counter in Selfridges and now has a shop in Primrose Hill, there too. If you’re serious cheese fans like us, head to the Wildes Cheeses stall. Producing the best Camembert-like cheese we’ve ever tasted, it’s honestly worth standing in line for.

So what are you waiting for? Get it in your diary pronto.
