Fewer sprints. More space to live the life I’ve built.
The last few weeks have been full in every way.
I’ve been holding space for the final live Bootcamp experience, welcoming new people into Life-First Business, and of course, supporting my existing students in the midst of all of that.
So this week was all about giving everything room to breathe.
I kept my schedule completely clear so I could move at a slower pace, reflect, and work on putting new structures in place before diving into Q4.
As I’ve been reflecting, I’ve consciously decided that I want to operate at a slower pace for this next quarter.
One of the beautiful things about planning with intention is that you start to notice the natural rhythms and rituals of your life — what your capacity looks like in different seasons, and where you genuinely want to put your energy.
For us as a family, fall is always full.
Right now, our weekends are booked straight through to early December. We’ve got school events, birthday parties, Halloween plans, and we’ve been hosting friends every week at our house for “spooky movie nights” with our kids.
I’ve got a girls’ movie night on the calendar (we’re doing all the classics — You’ve Got Mail, When Harry Met Sally), a new romance and smut book club with my mum friends that we just kicked off over dinner, trips planned upstate, and more Friendsgiving invites than I can count.
My daughter is in her ballet era, so I booked us tickets for The Nutcracker at Lincoln Center, which I’m excited about and I’m also helping organize a coat drive and a few local fundraisers in our neighbourhood.
It’s a beautiful season, but I can’t do it all. And more importantly, I don’t want to.
So for Q4, I’m keeping my business simple:
- Evergreen only
- No live activations
- No new experiments
- No Black Friday sprint
When I’m working, I want it to be deep, meaningful work — tightening systems, pouring into my students, operating in that architect/CEO mode — without unnecessary stuff thrown in the mix.
Instead, I want to use the energy I have to really enjoy this fall and holiday season – and novelty in my business would take away from that.
So maybe this is your reminder to pause for a second and think about what you want this final stretch of the year to feel like.
What are the rhythms that support you right now?
What does this season look like for you and your family?
For some of you, this might be a sprint season — and that gets to be okay too.
The point isn’t whether you’re moving fast or slow. It’s that you’re choosing it on purpose.
And as a side note — one of the small rituals that’s been keeping me so grounded lately is my Saturday morning farmer’s market routine.
I get there just before it opens (while Mike and the kids are still asleep), grab a coffee, sit in the park with no headphones — just quiet — and then slowly make my way through the stalls. By now, I know all my regular vendors and exactly where to get what. It’s such a simple thing, but it’s been a little anchor for me every week.
Here’s to rhythms that hold us, in business and in life.
P.S. If you’ve been in a season of constant output, maybe this is your reminder that quiet work counts too. The routines, the refining, the space to actually enjoy your own life — that’s where sustainable growth comes from.
P.P. S. Here’s a glimpse of my life lately….
